Gas Credit Cards

Credit cards, like many other things, aren’t just standard anymore.  Unique consumers call for unique credit cards that offer more than just a credit line.  Over the years specialty cards and different rewards programs have been added to credit card features, and none is more appealing that features for gas purchases. 
               

Gas is a commodity that we just don’t want, but need on a daily basis, making it a regular purchase.  It’s also a limited resource which means it’s never likely to go down in price.  Those factors alone make credit card gas incentives a very beneficial to credit card holders. 

There are two ways in which these incentives are applied to credit cards.  They can either be in the form of reward programs with rebates on gas purchases or a specialty credit card for specific gas stations.
               

Many credit card providers now offer many different credit cards with gas rebate rewards.  With these credit cards you can receive up to 10% cash back on gas purchases, either from specific gas stations or from any station depending on the provider. 

Other rewards apply as well, such as cash back on other purchases, but the primary benefit of these gas cards is of course on gas purchases.  The type of return you get on gas purchases also varies usually being either cash back, points towards free gas, or additional rewards for gas on top of other rewards.
               

Then there are credit cards focused solely on gas purchases.  These are the credit cards for the individual stations themselves that can still be used in other locations.  However, with these cards you get a better return on travel purchases because that is usually the only type of reward programs offered. 

It should also be noted that these only give rebates on for gas purchases at their own gas stations.  These credit cards are also very likely to have savings and deals on other related purchases, such as auto maintenance, since they are geared specifically towards those that are on the road a lot.
               

Both types of gas credit cards also have offers with introductory periods where you’re rebates can be maximized, usually in the form of double and triple rebates for gas purchases within the introductory period.
